MRI of the Prostate
MRI of the prostate is becoming more and more a part of the work up of prostate cancer in males. A new technique, using contrast enhanced MRI of the prostate, as well as post-processing on a dedicated workstation supplied by Cad-Sciences known as 3TP/FTP, is now available in Montclair Radiology's West Caldwell and Nutley offices. As of 7/07, Montclair Radiology is the only center in NJ where this technology is available.
This technique relies on the different vascularity and vascular permeability of cancerous tissue vs benign tissue in detecting prostate cancer. Its main use is in the imaging of male patients who have undergone a negative prostate biopsy, but who still have elevated PSA values. Please don't hesitate to call and speak with one of our staff members if you have any question regarding MRI of the prostate.
